Art in Proof

Fantasies, fairy tales, and futuristic visions come to life in the contemporary artwork featured in Proof on Main. The art is selected from the Louisville collection of Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, an extensive and international collection of contemporary art that includes painting, sculpture, video, and installation art. The artists presented here have exhibited their work in galleries and museums across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Adjoining Proof on Main is 21c Museum Hotel, where the exhibition Tangled Up in You: Connecting, Coexisting, and Conceiving Identity will be on display in the street level gallery from February to June 2008 while the downstairs atrium contains a selection of new acquisitions and highlights from the museum's collection. The exhibitions are free and open to the public. These exhibitions will change approximately twice a year.

21c Museum

21c Museum, operated and funded by the International Contemporary Art Foundation, is a non-profit museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the very best work of living artists from all over the world. With over 9,000 square feet of exhibition space, as well as a dedicated video lounge, the museum features dynamic group and solo exhibitions, as well as permanent, commissioned installations.

Since our 2006 Grand Opening, 21c has hosted over 100,000 visitors and presented a dynamic program of solo and group exhibitions, including both regional and internationally known artists. 21c has become synonymous with the place to enjoy a well–rounded cultural experience. In addition to a rotating exhibition program, 21c has sponsored many Kentucky artists, including Dan Dutton in his largest exhibition to date. We also provided a venue for a standing room only debut performance by Empujón, Louisville's own off-season contemporary dance company.

21c Museum Hotel provides a truly unique venue for contemporary art. The boutique hotel consists of 90 rooms on the upper three floors of the building, and every room features original works of art by a wide range of locally and internationally recognized contemporary artists. Located in Louisville's city center, the museum's mission is to encourage greater understanding and enjoyment of contemporary art for all audiences.

The International Contemporary Art Foundation is a non-profit, collecting institution and manages the museum within the 21c Hotel.
