Cultural Events at 21c Louisville

Nestled in the heart of Museum Row and downtown Louisville, 21c is an epicenter for culture, activity, and artistic expression for the city and region. The union of 21c Museum Hotel, Proof on Main, and the International Contemporary Art Foundation create an exciting array events, including artist lectures, and dinners, a monthly film series, musical performances, Trolley Hop activities, and much more. While there's often something going on at 21c, we're happy to make suggestions within our neighborhood so you can get the most out of your visit to Louisville. Sunday Series: Cabaret Life Drawing & Yoga with Art

Now Every Sunday
In the downstairs galleries
Yoga with Art 2:30-4:00pm, $5
Cabaret Life Drawing 4:30-6:30pm, $10 ($5 students)

Cabaret Life Drawing is an evening of cabaret and life drawing at 21c Museum. It presents an array of burlesque starlets, fetish models, magicians, hula hoop artists and elaborately costumed showgirls whose performance and poses provide the basis for guests to sketch in a series of individual pencil and charcoal drawings.

Throughout the evening, performers will create and hold a series of poses ranging from 30 seconds to 15 minutes, allowing guests time to capture a quick sketch of each. Focusing on contrapposto and chiaroscuro, we will explore the weight shift of the model in the hips, shoulders, and head, as well as the distribution of light and shade for general dramatic effect.

BYOM (bring your own mat) for Yoga with Art. Flex those creative muscles as you work through a variety of ancient poses. Sessions are just $5 at the door and are led by Certified Yoga Teachers Skylar Smith, Jonathan Swanz, Teresa Phelps Martin, Marie Coma, and Susan Schroedery. Attendees should bring their own mat or towel and water and arrive early to ensure a spot because space is limited.
